Lead pollution

Poison. Neurotoxin. Credited with the Fall of Rome. Need we say more? Yes, we do.

EPA lists the most common effects of long-term exposure to lead as:

  • Damage to the brain and nervous system
  • Behavior and learning problems, such as hyperactivity
  • Slowed growth
  • Hearing problems
  • Headaches
  • Reproductive problems (in both men and women)
  • High blood pressure and hypertension
  • Nerve disorders
  • Memory and concentration problems
  • Muscle and joint pain

According to the US government standards, lead is about 180000 times as harmful as carbon dioxide (How we know that?).
